Débora Arango, pintora y acuarelista antioqueña nació el 11 de noviembre de 1907, siendo la octava hija de Castor María Arango Díaz y Elvira Pérez. En 1920, ingresó al Colegio María Auxiliadora de Medellín, donde la madre María Rabaccia reconoció su talento artístico y la impulsó a ser pintora2. Durante su juventud su inclinación por la pintura fue también estimulada por su familia: sus hermanos médicos Tulio y Luis Enrique le enseñaron de anatomía, mientras su hermana escritora Elvira le servía de modelo.

Beginnings

Débora Arango, painter and watercolorist from Antioquia, Colombia, was born on November 11, 1907, the eighth daughter of Castor María Arango Díaz and Elvira Pérez. In 1920, she entered the María Auxiliadora School in Medellín, where Mother María Rabaccia recognized her artistic talent and encouraged her to become a painter. During her youth, her interest in painting was also stimulated by her family: her brothers, the doctors Tulio and Luis Enrique, taught her anatomy, while her sister Elvira, a writer, served as a model.
